Our Class

We are excited to share our adventures in co-teaching with you! This year, we are teaching 45 first graders in the same classroom. When we arrived at school to set up our two separate rooms, we realized how much better it would be if we could be together all day. This group of students had some experience with co-teaching in kindergarten, but we decided to take it to the next level. We pushed all the tables and chairs into one room, which we call our work room. We are currently working on a class library in the other room. We have a few small tables and chairs, a large rug, and lots of space for movement. We call this room our gathering room. Some say we're crazy, but we are having an amazing time. One of our next post will include classroom setup, organization, and decorations. Have a great weekend!

Meet the Teachers!

Meet Katy

I have been teaching for thirteen years. My husband and I have been married for six years, and we have three amazing children. Since we teach at a K-12 laboratory school, two of my children attend school with me. I have taught every primary grade except for kindergarten, but I have a soft spot for first.

Meet Kaleigh

This is my first year of full time teaching. Last year I had the chance to cover a maternity leave at our school. I am so excited to begin my career teaching at a lab school where we have the freedom to explore new teaching methods!
